Nice write up, thanks for making it as always.
Hope the water heater problems weren't too serious!

This isn’t a dump on the player, as TJ Brodie was one of the better Calgary players in the Washington game, but TJ Brodie had a rough afternoon in Carolina.

That's putting it nicely. He was friggin awful for the most part.
And it's why when I see the sentiment that he makes Gio better, I just shake my head. I like TJ a lot, but these kind of mistakes are nothing new for him, particularly the last 3 seasons including this one. He has obviously been better this season than previous but look who he is playing with.
Maybe it's much more of a summer discussion but it's part of why he may be dealt at the draft with a full year left on his contract. Lots of factors will weigh on that possibility none any bigger than what happens as far as playoff success or lackthereof.

That feels like piling on.
He had a rough afternoon, but we really haven't seen a game like that since early November.

piling on?
No...just pointing out that he is not "all that" is all. He has had many a blunder in his own end and at the opposition blueline the last 3 years. That is hardly a debate. Many here have actually claimed he is the straw that stirs the top pairing which is absurd IMO.
Also, and in an asset management way, I fully believe that BT has to deal one of him or Hamonic this summer to maximize return as well as ease cap issues. Hamonic has no one even close to replace him internally. Not the case with Brodie.
Not that it matters right now as the club is rolling like it hasnt in decades and Im enjoying the winning, but there is a long term side to him and others on the club is all.
