Shea Theodore re-signs -- 7 years, $5.2 million AAV
https://twitter.com/user/status/1044452916218683392
1 extra year and $250,000 more per season than Hanifin.

This leaves Nylander and Ritchie as the only remaining unsigned RFAs, with 8 days until the start of the season.

I feel like thats a lot for a guy with only 114 regular season games played. Couple nice playoff runs in there which should of factored in, but wow higher term and average than Hanifin's contract blows my mind.

With the usual proviso that things can change with one phone call, it sure sounds like things are dead quiet on the RFA front right now. No sense of progress or imminent breakthroughs on Nylander (TOR), Theodore (VGK) and N Ritchie (ANA).
|
Good player for sure tho.

Some risk on the Vegas side but if Theodore turns into a legit top pairing 2 way guy this could be a steal.

The Predators method. Let’s see if it works out for them.

Every time I've ever watched Shea Theodore I've come away thinking "Kylington is just as good, maybe better".

 Posted the 6 millionth post!

The use of "Shea it ain't so" has a weird usage for a big signing, that would more imply this is grave news rather than a state of disbelief. Sometimes I don't understand social media people - or perhaps the communicators who put them up to these awful puns.

You really feel that based on their current body of work that Hanifin is a better player?

Locking up good young defensemen to cheap, long term deals has rarely proven to be a bad idea. That being said, I hope this blows up in their faces because #### the Knights

He's their #1 d-man on the PP.
I don't expect Kylington to ever be able to say that.
Theodore was the #1 PP d-man on a Stanley Cup finalist.
Kylington couldn't make a non-playoff team's d-man corps. And likely still can't.

If this ends up being a fair contract, then wow, did the Ducks ever screw up. I mean, they did anyway, but that's almost as bad as Florida giving away Marchessault.

Are you saying every time you watch Theodore play in the NHL you think Klyington's play in the AHL is better?
