Default Need map help

Not sure if I'm just weak with the google but I'm having a hard time finding maps though show clear boundaries of Crown Land. Is there such a thing? I have a cabin out near water valley and I have a sneaking suspicion that just west, down the road, of the entrance to our land is crown land (or I guess Public land in Alberta) but having a tough time figuring out how to confirm this.

I'm looking for crown land that's somewhat easy to get to so I can have a place to legally fly drones and perhaps shoot at some pop cans with my .22 and some snowmobiling.

I just want to make sure I'm not intruding on privately owned land.

I'm sure some will ask why I'm not doing this on my land. It's because I'm one of 16 owners so it's not all mine. The Drones are OK, but limited spaces to fly them and certainly don't want to be discharging firearms when others may be present. Snowmobiles are also fine but riding the same cut lines can get dull after a while.

Alberta's GIS system

https://alta.registries.gov.ab.ca/spinii/logon.aspx

catch is, you have to use IE.

Guest login, and you can browse through the interactive map.

Maptown.
http://www.maptown.com/

It's downtown.

Has many maps of crown land, has landowner maps that list each and every landowner in the area. Has topo maps of the area, pretty much anything you could be looking for.

As for online, I tend to use proprietary mapping software, so I don't know what's available in the public domain, but I'm sure there is something. In the meantime, paper maps will cover you.

There is a lot more mapping out there, though. I mean, you are a landowner, right? Wouldn't you want to know what you own?? The Alberta Geological Survey, the Geological Survey of Canada, and others, have maps of your land showing a lot of interesting stuff. Check it out.

Cool, thanks. May go see if they can help me. I've found some interactive maps online in the past. Problem is I have no idea what it's trying to display. Will see how manwhiches link looks.

It works pretty well in Chrome these days.

If you use the information icon on a parcel of land and it returns no results or a Non-Patent sheet, chances are it's crown land.

What County is it in? A lot have maps online that will show land ownership.

If you PM me, I can make you a very quick map in Accumap that shows land ownership around your area.
