Default Surprise Players at the Break for 2018

I was browsing the stats and noticed a few players that seem to be really standing out this season.

1. Alexander Kerfoot

The 23 year old undersized rookie centre has 12 goals and 20 assists (32 points in 45 games) with 3rd/4th line minutes. He is fourth on his team for points and 19th in ice-time per game. A former 5th round pick of the Devils.

2. Jesper Bratt

Another undersized forward, the 19 year old rookie and former 6th round pick has 12 goals and 18 assists for the Devils. Good for 2nd place on his team.

3. Miles Wood

The 22 year sophomore player has 13 goals and 8 assists with mostly 3rd/4th line ice time.

4. Thomas Vanek

The former star looked to be done, but he is quietly putting up some decent number with 3rd line ice-time in Vancouver. Could be a nice rental player for a playoff team.

I am sure I am missing a lot.

Bailey, Barzal, Schenn, Ratanen are all a point per game. Anders Lee looking good.

Perron, Marchessault, William Karlsson, Haula, Riley Smith and a lot of other people on Vegas are surprising as well

He is definitely getting more notice this year though and exceeded my own expectations so far.

Not sure what to think. Maybe he is the Matt Stajan (55 points on a top line)
kind of guy? Goals are high at 19 which is nice

Ferly is a sniper. He can finish im not sure if you can compare him to a young Stajan though. Ferly is by far the better player.

I am sure I am missing a lot.

You can have him for a high pick.

I'll add Brian Boyle to this list too.

Mike Smith is having a career year at age 35 ( well a near career year, 2011-12 his first year in Phx) .

He is so much better than the goalie the Yotes were willing to pay 1.4 M / yr to play elsewhere.

Hellebuyck was supposed to be a back up rather than an all-star.

Hellebuyck was a highly touted goalie prospect. He was in the same conversations as Vasilevski, Gibson, Murray. But I guess after his first couple seasons you could say this is a surprise
