Report: Gaudreau will play for USA at World Championship

Johnny Hockey is going to Denmark.
With the Calgary Flames failing to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Johnny Gaudreau has reportedly decided to represent Team USA at the upcoming IIHF World Championship, according to The Athletic's Craig Custance.
Gaudreau went home immediately upon season's end to be with his father following the latter's recent health scare, but an NHL source confirmed to Custance that he'll indeed be participating in the annual tournament.
The offensively gifted winger has played for Team USA at the World Championship twice before, recording eight goals and 13 assists in 16 games.

More like his dad told him to go so he could have more hockey to watch.

Kane is going to be the captain for Team USA.
Gaudreau and Kane on the same line? Can we dream?

Love watching Johnny play in international games. He's always a threat. I assume it's the big ice surface too which benefits him greatly.

The thing I really like about Gaudreau is how much he obviously loves the game.

Cool hopefully he lights it up. Yeah it's clear Gaudreau just loves hockey.
Also hopefully this is the last time he ever plays at the Worlds.

On the big ice they might get away with playing them together. Against a solid team like Canada they might be a disaster defensively.

I am really glad that Gaudreau gets some games in April. He really played well (relatively unexpectedly) after his NCAA year. The USA hockey program helped him then and he is paying them back now.
Maybe it is time to look at him taking a leadership role on the Flames.
