Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New Jersey Devils agreed on a deal that sees two good wingers switch places:
To Toronto: F Alexander Steen, 3rd round pick 2017 (STL)
To New Jersey: F Zach Parise
Pretty much a lateral trade, given that both players are at the same age and on similar contracts. We took a small downgrade and therefore get what we hope is going to be an early 3rd in the next draft. Basically I wanted to pair Simmonds and Bergeron with a great passer and we hope that Steen is going to be a good fit alongside them. Plus he's great defensively, which is always a good thing.
