James Wisniewski accepts PTO to Lightning camp
Wisniewski was the closest Wideman comparable on the free agent market, FWIW. Granted his injury status muddies things a bit.

James Wisniewski has signed a PTO (camp tryout) with the Lightning. Missed all but one game of last year with injury.

Wiz's injury remains huge concern. He badly tore his left ACL last year so his mobility may be affected. But smart of Tampa to have a look.

Interested to see if Wisniewski has any NHL quality game left in him.

Won't hurt Tampa to have a look in camp. Pretty nice blueline in Hedman, Stralman, Coburn, Garrison and Sustr. Some young kids on the cusp as well- add a serviceable Wisniewski to that group and one of the deepest teams in the league gets better.

Didn't realize the guy hadn't played in more than a year. Whatever the naysayers think, that hardly makes him a Wideman comparable

Also Wideman gets 6 million dollars and will lead the league in minor penalties

I don't think it is a coincidence he signed his PTO as far from edmonton as it is possible in the NHL.

He will also likely get paid 4-5 million dollars less than Wideman and has no acquisition cost and if he doesn't work out on the PTO they can just cut him.
