Even if the Flames aren't seriously interested, they know Van and Edmonton are. No harm in getting the lay of the land to see what your rivals may be on the hook for.

I'm glad the Flames are being linked everywhere.
The Flames need to address some holes in the lineup both at the NHL level and organizationally. They need to do several things for the next week to be a success.

I think he would be a great fit with Sean and Johnny, but not at the price and term he would want.
We need the limited cap space for a goalie, so trying to trade up in the draft seems to be a better path to that top RW.
I'd much rather have Vancouver or Edmonton overpay for him.
