Default Is this a bedbug?

My tenant sent me this picture this evening and thinks it is a bed bug but he found it in the kitchen cabinet and did an inspection on the rooms and found nothing. There were 4 of these things in one of the cupboards.

It sure looks like one from the pictures I've looked online but it doesn't seem to have the oval body that bed bugs have.

Spoiler!

have him flip his mattress and look.

Could it be a carpet beetle or a cockroach?

Ok after googling pics of bed bugs for the last hour I found this pretty good site to identify bugs.

Could it be a confused flour beetle? sort of looks like it in the picture.

http://reliablepestsolutions.com/fbi...ntify+this+Bug

I used 6 legs and antennas as the identifiers. The antennas look to be much more pointy in my picture though.

I'm not an expert, but that doesn't look like a bed bug to me. Too big, and too oval. I think bed bugs are more rounded, and only grow to be about a half centimetre.

The picture makes it hard to get a sense of scale, but would I be right that the bug in the pic is more like 1cm? If so that would be a really big bedbug.

yeah, I think that's a flour beattle. Might be feeding on something rotten in your cupboard.

don't pee around it, they crawl up your urine stream in lay eggs in your junk.

I didn't see it in person but he said it was real small. I'm much more relieved after finding that confused flour beetle picture as I think that's likely what it is. I would hate to have to pay for an expensive exterminator right now.

100 percent not a bed bug. Poster 2 nailed it as a confused or perhaps a red flour beetle.

Vacuum and throw away infested food. That's that.

I'm in the entomology biz.
