Default Where to buy tires

On heading from the office to an appointment today I found out I ran over a screw in my travels and got to do an impromptu tire change. Always fun!

Taking a closer look at my tires and they probably should be replaced at this point. Not urgent as I have a full size spare, but something that I will want to take care of in the next couple weeks. So what's the best place or website recommendation?

Urban Expressions Tires + Wheels. Or Costco.

Costco. Cheap installation and great warranty.

Costco.

Order on line.

When they come in they call to book you a time.

Easy.

Depends on the vehicle. Urban Expressions usually for performance tires. Costco if I want good prices on good tires. Canadian tire if it's for an old vehicle that just needs some cheap, but still decent tires (I only buy if they are on sale). On that note, I have the Motomaster SE3 on my 03 Accord and I've been very happy with them for the 3000 km I've had them so far. Quiet, good grip, decent ride.

At one point I went to buy tires at Costco for my BMW X5. Because I don't have a spare tire, and was unwilling to get run flat tires, they refused to sell me tires. I ended up going to Kal Tire and had a good experience there. A couple years later I had a flat that couldn't be repaired. I had my car towed to Kal Tire and they replaced the tire, giving me credit for the unused tread on the current tire.

If it helps these are tires for my F150. I will check out Costco in the meantime I guess, I just wasn't sure if there was somewhere online that had better deals or something that I should be aware of.

There's four places. There's the Tire Lane, that's on third.
There's Tire's Tire, that's on third too. You got Tire-2-Tire.
That's on third. Radial Roundhouse, Sedan Shoes... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the Tire complex on third.

http://www.1010tires.com/ is the online place I can think of, probably good for comparison.

The problem with Costco is, if you get a flat or need a rotation etc., they are always so busy you can't just pop in. Most regular tire shops are going to be more responsive especially for emergencies such as flats.

Check to see if road hazard is included. Some tire manufacturers aren't doing it anymore- so it could vary from shop to shop.

+1 for UrbanX. Go speak with Gary at the South location. I have sent several friends there and everyone loves the guy.

Gary is a stellar guy and I do all my road racing and my BMW's tires there. With that said, for an F150 - just do what UCB said (first time saying that) - Gary can't touch Costco pricing.

Order tires online from Costco, they call and schedule an install with you, boom done. Warranty is 2nd to none. Free rotations. etc

As soon as I bought my f150 I swapped out the terrible Wranglers for Michelin LTX AT2s. love them and they are wearing nice and slowly.

The problem with buying online is most tire shops will charge you like $25/tire to mount new tires that aren't bought from them. Costco or UrbanX will mount for free if you buy from them. I tried a number of iterations of 1010tires.com and tirerack.com (when the dollar was at par) and couldn't find a deal that worked better than what I found locally once you factored in mounting & balancing. I know it does work out sometimes though.

I have dealt with Bob at UrbanX in the NE and have nothing but good things to say.

+1 for UrbanX NE. Good guys, pretty good price, know their stuff and aren't pushy or clueless. I'm going UrbanX next once I need new tires. I went to Kal tire before to replace two tires that were crud on a vehicle I bought used that and wasn't extremely impressed by the answers I received for what I felt were basic questions regarding Nokians. I got all sorts of answers at UrbanX.

When I had a car for which the tires were silly expensive, I used www.tirerack.com, probably saving even with shipping about $750 compared to shopping local. The downside is one time I unknowingly picked tires that were meant for the track, and I wore them out in 5000km. But if you know what you need, their prices are great. The exchange rate now might make that not a good option at this time.

Love the tire complex in general, but a big +1 or more to the boys at radial roundhouse.
