Good price - low risk, potential reward
RFA w/ Arb rights. Anaheim should have cap room to deal with any arb decision and not be scared if the arb valuation goes over their own

Wow...that's not much of a return for him. I would have gladly given up a 3rd rounder, in the least!

Wow, only a 6th? Possibly bottom of the 6th at that.

Why even bother if you're Florida? Wouldn't you rather have the depth for the playoffs? Dumb move by Tallon.

Yikes. The talk about the multiple picks or a second+ were a little off...

Only reasons I can think of:
Remove a reserve list spot
He is arb. eligible RFA and teams cannot walk away from offers under a certain threshold

Brutal return for Pirri. It speaks to what the Panthers organization thinks of him. Personally he's worth much more than that, however his current injury status obviously plays into the return too.
For those that don't know, he severely injured his ankle not long ago, so he might not even play again this year.

If that's now the NHL's GMs views Pirri, I wouldn't be surprised to see him out of the NHL in a few years.

They should have thrown him in as part of the Hudler deal!

You're essentially paying for Pirri's rights and nothing more. He's many, many weeks away from returning to action. He might not even get another regular season game this year.

He's a pure shooter, but struggles to do much else very well and doesn't play a very strong team game. Doesn't use his teammates well.
