“The other pleasant surprise is forward Brett Pollock, who managed to make the club last year, but sat on the bench most of the season. Red Line liked him in a very limited energy role last year, as he used his big frame to spark the team with an up-tempo forecheck. But the fact that he has already eclipsed his offensive numbers from last year in this campaign’s first four games has drawn our attention. Pollock seems to have come back with a much smoother and improved skating stride, and a new-found confidence in his puckhandling.”

Playing for the Oil Kings this season, looks like they should make it as a wild card team in the WHL play offs.

Looks like he is having a good season on a less than stellar Oil Kings team.

Read a couple of reviews of Pollock (can't find them now) that said he could project to being a decent power winger if he works on his skating.

Redline Report from 2014

#45 - Brett Pollock - C - "Really nice combination of edginess and skills."

"Tall, lanky pivot is a high effort player with a powerful stride. Continues to push our perception of what his offensive ceiling might be at the next level. Has been an extremely consistent producer all season despite playing most often in a 3rd line checking role for strong club. His tireless effort provided excellent secondary scoring. Plays a simple game and doesn't turn over the puck in risky areas. Shields puck extremely well and works the low cycle to perfection, constantly keeps legs churning to create pressure on the forecheck and force turnovers. Jumps on rebounds and show surprising patience in tight quarters around the slot. Already good at manufacturing greasy goals, and in second half he started to score more from clear looks and skilled plays."
Projection: 3rd line character centre with a good club.
Style compares to: Kyle Brodziak

I've seen him play a handful of times. Has a really good motor, always skating and trying to make a play.

Granted this is just my friend's take from watching him a bunch with the Oil Kings - but I've heard he's pretty solid offensively, fairly reliable defensively, not very aggressive despite his size, and about average speed.

Stars fans said not much offensive potential but a very high floor.

Most expect him to make the NHL.

I've watched him on the Oil Kings the last couple of years. He is a gritty guy, a bit of a pest, and also has size and offensive upside. He stands out on an average Oil Kings team. A good prospect.

Judging from his highlight package he likes going to the front of the net.

would he be better or worse propect than Klimchuck? Klimchuck is almost exactly a year older and had better WHL numbers in his last year. (80 pts in 60 games)

The fact that Klimchuk is a year older makes me more high on Pollock. Also, Pollock plays C and is big.

He looks like Michael Ferland's motivation.

Wow, that Edmonton Oil Kings alternate jersey is something ugly.

Read a Stars prospect rankings list but he didn't make their top 10 list. However, he did receive an honourable mention

My 1st thought on where to slot him into the Flames' prospect list was somewhere just below Klimchuk.

The above, and other comments that are surfacing, all seem to support that.
