Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins

Well yesterday was a fun day for right wing meltdowns with Obamacare here to stay. Today figures to be even more of a meltdown. Que "Our Christian nation is crumbling".

Great decision
Rough week for the Republicans though, as that's the second Supreme Court case they lost this week.

I feel like their Supreme Court has been talking to our Supreme Court lately.
This is a big deal.

And the funny thing is that this is a majority Republican appointed court. Great day for the States.

Huge in so many ways, the dominos around the world will start to tumble in the right direction, but to me the great joy will be to watch the freak out from the Christian right for the next few days.

In a twist shocking no one, Roberts, Scalia, Alito and Thomas somehow think same-sex marriage is not a right.

I wish. But I suspect the Mike Huckabee types will continue the dumb fight at the state level. And ultimately the supreme court doesn't create law, just interprets it.
But man is it a great step....
fish don't burn in the kitchen.
beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
just to get up that hill.

Dude, the fight's over. There is no fight left to be had at the state level. Any attempt by a state actor to deny a gay person the ability to marry is unconstitutional. End of argument.
The only contentious point left is whether individual clerks can decline to issue marriage licenses on the basis of a religious objection and that's going to be a pretty quick one.

Gay marriage? Gun control? NATIONAL HEALTH CARE?? What's happening to my country? I'm moving to Canada where they had all this 15 years ago.

I just read the entire ruling and the dissents http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions...4-556_3204.pdf
And that part there got me a bit weepy, and I doubt I'll be getting married in the USA any time soon!
I'm pretty biased, I know, but the dissents are really whiny check out the top paragraph of slide 42 of the pdf...
