What will Gaudreau's next contract be?
Looks like Gaudreau is on the verge of becoming a premier player in the NHL if he isn't already considered so. He is RFA after this season and doesn't have arbitration rights and he can't sign an offer sheet.
Predict his next contract.

I'm hoping 6 but it will most likely be over 7

I was hoping for $6 million per season at the start of the season but that seems unrealistic at the moment. $7.0 to $7.5 is my guess now.

Johnny's great, but I'd guess it will be lower than most are thinking, like every other contract Treliving has gotten done. They have a salary structure to adhere to and I don't see them deviating from that on an RFA with no arbitration rights.

He'll probably be the highest paid Flame. I agree with the others that say 8 years 60-64.

If we get him for 7.5m over 8 years I consider that a major win.
Over a PPG on a team that struggles offensively in his 2nd year. The sooner this contract gets locked up the better IMO.

No need to have a bridge contract. 8 years $7-$8M per. Gotta get that max term though

He still has 4 years pre-UFA status. No way does he get $8M per.
I think Tarasenko is the best recent comparable, and I think BT gets him a little cheaper.
I chose $6.5 - $7M and I think it comes in at just under $7.
So let's say 8 years, $55M

I voted 6.5-7. I legit believe that Treliving knows we have a good thing going, but we need everyone to take a bit of a discount if we want to see this through and have sustained success.
With his play now, he could get 8x8 and I wouldn't bat an eyelid. That would easily be the biggest contract is Flames history, but he'd be worth it. But deep down, part of me feels that Treliving will get him for under 7. Between 6-7 is what I'm guessing.

Exactly. There are still 4 years of RFA you're getting in that contract which drives down the AAV.

BT (and Burke) has handed out some juicy contracts. Brodie is the one exception I can think of so I don't consider the salary structure on the team all that favorable.
Johnnylooks like a superstar. Superstars get paid a lot. This next contract should cover his best hockey years.

You need to sign him long term and the only way Johnny agrees to that is if he gets paid what others would be willing to pay him... No one electrifies a crowd like Johnny except, Kane, Crosby, Ovy..... At least 8 Mill to get it done... It is what it is... Not a time to get cheap and insult someone. Giving him lots of dough wont slow him down and make him lazy like it does to others
