The guy has 0g, 7a in his last 70 KHL games. Doesnt scream "upgrade" on a Schlemko or Diaz at all to me. Must be a mind blowing defender.
Maybe he is a defensive defenseman. That's because his stat is not that good, it doesn't mean he is a not a good D. He is 6'2 RHD and he can probably skate very well and very good defensively. I have never seen him play yet but you cannot gauge the guy's talent because of goals and assists stat.
Last time I got excited about us getting a player out of the KHL that other teams were trying to get in on, we got a year of Roman Červenka who -- over an 82 game season playing with Hudler -- would have been on pace to get one point more than we got out of Lance Bouma this year.
Enthusiasm curbed until we see what this guy can actually do in the NHL.

Those stats are incorrect. At worst he has 1g 7a in his last 48 games in the KHL. EliteProspects is showing 1g 11a in his last two KHL seasons (85 games).
Either way it doesn't matter and we have minimal context as to why or why he wasn't putting up points.
If the Flames sign him and he turns into our version of Alexei Yemelin, that would be awesome. Perfect replacement for Smid
We don't need more offensive d-men, we need 2-way d-men who have size and play like it. As such, I for one am not concerned about his low point totals. Hope we land him - we need all the d help we can get and he's on the right side of 30. RH also.

If he's a top defensive d-man you'd get points just by virtue of being on the ice a lot. Now KHL may be a super low scoring league... but even Robyn Regehr was putting up 20+ points in his prime years.
