Mark Spector @SportsnetSpec
BREAKING: B.U. Goalie Matt O'Connor goes to the OTTAWA SENATORS

Bruce Garrioch @SunGarrioch
Matt O'Connor has signed with the #Sens

can expect the Senators to trade one of their goalies now (Hammond, Lehner or Anderson)

the finalists for O'Connor were reported to be Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa and New York Rangers.

reportedly team had to guarantee AHL starter time to sign O'Connor

Yes.

By some reports the Flames were on his list until they confirmed that Gillies was signing this year.

You'd have to think Lehner would be the odd man out.

Man, they have a lot of goalies there now. Wasn't expecting him to sign there, but good for them. Really interested to see who they move out.

Lehner is probably just going to go back to Europe at the rate he is going.

Mike McMahon @MikeMcMahonCHN
O'Connor will received the max ELC for his age, per the CBA. $925k in the NHL.

unclear if he got any rookie performance bonuses

Weird. They already have too many goalies.

I guess where they're lacking is goalie prospects. Besides Hammond, they had a couple of AHL journeymen carry most of the load in Binghamton this season. So, it should be a good opportunity for O'Connor.

Bruce Garrioch @SunGarrioch
O'Connor got two years at $925 K plus bonuses from #Sens

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Senators spoke with Andrew Hammond's agent two weeks ago, just general conversation, no specifics. Haven't talked since. But lots of time

"Connor McDavid."

"Has there been some sort of mistake?"

"Your last name is O'Connor. Therefore you will look great playing behind The Connor."

"I don't really see the point of this"

"CON-NOR MC-DAV-ID...."

Edmonton is a goalie graveyard. Why would any goalie sign there?

I'd argue that we have more...

Ramo, Hiller, Ortio, Gillies and McDonald.

Is that the same guy who put the Boston bruins in cap jail and traded a top 5 superstar young player for basically junk?

Is that the same McDavid who never saw NHL ice yet but for sure will get over a 100pts in his rookie season because he's as good as Crosby?

Every year there seems to be a new reason to why Edmonton will be good and every year they are the same crappy dysfunctional non team.

They should trade Hammond to the Oilers to get a return on a goaltender that was likely a flash in the pan.

Valid arguments. And perhaps we could visit this in the E=NG thread instead of a Sens related thread. I would not like to de-rail this thread with Edmonton talk.

That's something MacTavish would do...not Chiarelli!
