That's a long list! Hopefully just letting them ice bumps and bruises and not more serious...

I feel like they are going to start giving Stajan the harder defensive minutes come playoff time and might try to open up Backlund's line to be more offensive for secondary scoring.

Putting Bennett on that line would be a sign of that.

Apparently those lines are PP lines

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
With no Monahan practising, #Flames have had both Markus Granlund and Sam Bennett taking powerplay drill reps.
Hmm interesting.

I would agree with that, put Jones with Stajan and Ferland and you have a pretty good crash line.
Not so sure Bennett gets in the line-up right away, but I think they need to see how he does on the wing at some point.

Still excited at the thought of them practising the Monday after the regular season ended... So awesome.

Roger Millions @RogMillions
Sam Bennett's compete level will make it very tempting for Bob Hartley to play him .

hmm so Shore is the Monahan placeholder, but no Raymond at all? while many will be happy , this surprises me a touch, esp heading to Vancouver...is Bennett just a 'placeholder' for him

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Mason Raymond was an odd-man out during those rushes with Bennett in his place and Shore for the missing Monahan.
#Flames
Hmm interesting

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Bennett took line reps with Colborne and Backlund. Also subbed for Monahan on the top line. Lots of action for him today. Hmm. #Flames

Backlund must not be nursing a minor injury like some here thought. He'd be off with Monahan and Russell. What did the D look like?

6 of those 12 forwards are rookies, lol.

no worries though, Monahan (a sophomore) will be back to bolster the lineup.

Shore actually reminds me of a slightly more gritty and a lot less handsy Monahan - similar size and speed.

According to Wills without Russell, the d-pairings were all over the place.

I don't mind those lines except the 4th. It's too mixed up style-wise. But with Monahan back, you could sub Shore in for Bollig and it becomes a fast and possibly dangerous line, with three faceoff men to choose from.

What this mainly means is that Hartley liked what Bennett did on Sunday.

Any reason given for the Monahan absence?

I swear if he got some sort of non-hockey injury...
