Default Parking Tickets - City of Calgary

I tried searching online and was not able to find anything specific to Calgary.

Long story short, I was picking someone up downtown and was 30 minutes early. I didn't think I needed to pay for parking as long as I was in the vehicle and I was in a legal area to stop.

I found a bunch of information stating that I should not receive the infraction as long as I was in a legal place to stop and was in the vehicle.

The photo quality of the side view of the car is not great so I can't see myself...
1) The parking authority has better quality and perhaps additional images I can request... right?
2) No point in asking for these photos if the rule would be against me anyway. Does anyone know the ruling on that?

The answer will help moving forward as I have this situation happen quite frequently (only this is the first time I received a ticket)

What section were you charged under? You can PM me if you want. The whole "in the vehicle thing" is usually irrelevant. As per Traffic Bylaw 26M96 in Calgary:

Quote:
parkmeans to allow a vehicle (whether occupied or not) to remain standing in one place except:
(i)when standing temporarily for the purpose of and while actually
engaged in loading or unloading passengers; or
(ii)when standing in
obedience to a Peace Officer or traffic control
device;
Onus would be on you that you were actively loading or unloading passengers depending on the section.

I thought that it didn't matter if the driver was in the car or not. If you're in the spot, you need to pay the fee. I may be wrong if you say you found info to the contrary. Im curious now.

Section 9(14) Remain in a space longer than time purchased

I want the emphasize that I am not trying to get out of a ticket if I am in the wrong but if someones knowledge on this can save future tickets it is appreciated.

I would say you wouldn't have a case in my experience. I guess if its worth your time you could appeal it nonetheless and see what happens. However, the section is pretty clear, especially when you include my previously quoted section:

Quote:
No owner or operator shall remain in the zone controlled space for longer than the period of time for which payment was made
