Jamie Benn needs hip surgery
As per the NHL app, Benn needs hip surgery and will need 4-5 months rehab.
Quote:
Jamie Benn will have off-season surgery on his hip.
He is slated to need about four to five months of rehab following the procedure. Despite dealing with the issue for most of the year, Benn led the NHL in scoring with 87 points in 82 games. He should be ready for training camp. Apr 13 - 1:27 PM

Now that the diving jokes are all taken care of, give the guy some credit for not shutting it down when his team was eliminated and playing hard right to the end of the last game.

I had no idea Benn was so hated by Flames fans
Has he been fined for diving? He dove in one game against us and I'm sure he got a warning. If he did at all other than that he'd be fined by now
All the hate for one of the better players in the league seems like overkill. Googling Jamie Benn dive, CP is the first thing to come up with all the diving comments in the Art Ross thread

Q: What do Jamie Benn and Michael Phelps have in common?
A: They're both representatives of The Green, and both start every match with a dive.
Q: What do Seguin and a Sequin have in common?
A: A sequin is an example of an embellishment, and Seguin's captain is Jamie Benn.
Q: Why did Jamie Benn need hip surgery?
A: Thin air hurts, man.
Q: When will CP run out of Jamie Benn diving jokes?
A: When will Jamie Benn will run out of joke dives?

Am I out of line to suggest that it is actually kind of selfish of him to play and chase the scoring title instead of starting rehab as soon as possible so that he will be ready for when the games matter to his team?
I'm kind of surprised managment didn't shut him down the second they were eliminated

I'm sure if this was the sort of thing that could get worse by playing on it he'd have been shut down immediately. I can't imagine he would do anything that could negatively impact him going forward and I'm positive the team wouldn't let him anyway.
And if he's been playing with it all year or most of it I don't think he was just playing to chase the scoring title, but rather to not check out on his teammates once they'd been eliminated from postseason contention. Good thing for a captain to do, imo.
