Also at least they waited until after Christmas.

Not shocking. He coaches a style that the league has long since passed by. I just hope this wasn't due to results because the Devils are still not a very good team.

I meant to say not just about results. Lamoriello can't think another coach can do a whole lot better with that bunch. He must not have liked something about the way he was coaching as well.
Of course, Lou has always been a little impatient with coaches, so I wouldn't be too surprised if it was solely due to results.

IIRC B. Sutter tried to get DeBoer to come to the Flames as an assistant/associate coach, but DeBoer held out for an head coaching position.

Everybody Peter DeBoer will get fired sometime this season because NJ is just not going anywhere. I am sure he is expecting it too but kind of suck getting fired the day after christmas.

He still gets paid ... so it doesn't suck as much as it would for a normal person.

Why would the Oilers have waited till after Christmas to give Eakins his present?

ObOnT: I can’t disagree with those who say DeBoer was not the problem in N.J. However, I get the impression the players thought he was the problem, so taking their excuse away may not be such a bad thing.
