It wasn't that long ago that this team was finding ways to win in tight games and now the luck seems to have run dry. Karma is a bitch sometimes.

I wasn't impressed with Brodie's game but on the positive side, Colborne and Monahan work well together.

I've gotten so used to seeing this team win that I must say I'm shocked we lost this one.

Still sitting in a divisional playoff spot after losing 3 on the trot; it could be worse. Need to turn it around against the Pens though, who could potentially be without Syd tonight. Go Flames Go!

Can't say that Ramo was to blame for any of the goals? Hmmm ok. Seemed a bit flaily on a couple that then had him completely out of position after over commitment. But he was left in a desperate state due to the play in front of him so I'll give you that.

Bad defense and barely passable goaltending rarely results in wins or even loser points so nobody should be surprised at the outcome given some of the horrible defensive coverage and the goaltender putting up a .789 SV.

It's beginning to look like a bit of reality is setting in and it's very possible that the team will no longer hold a playoff spot in the beginning of 2015. That said every single fan at the beginning of the season would have been ecstatic if they were informed that the Flames would be 17-11-2 in the middle of December. Just have to put things into perspective and realize this team is still work in progress and they just aren't ready yet. Personally I believe this is for the best as there's not a lot of long term success stories for teams that peaked overly early in their rebuild as expectations change too fast and teams can lose their way in hopes of chasing a playoff spot.

Brodie hasn't played well for a couple games now, don't know if it is fatigue or what but some mental lapses are occurring. Christmas break cannot come soon enough imo.

We have out played the opposition the last three games but come away with losses, it happens but a few things I'm noticing.

Getting traffic in front of the net has dried up to a degree. When we use our defense as offence as much as we do we need to get guys in front of the net more, goalies are just too damn good to let them see the point shots, plus no chance of a deflection goal if we have no one in front of the net.

Shot blocking, don't know how many we've seen lately but it seems to be down to me. I cannot recall Bouma getting in front of a shot, nor many others, is the commitment so there to get in front of the shots? This could be just me but like I say I'm not noticing it as much as in past games. Our guys often are looking tired when we are in our end and thus not getting in front if shots as much as we were imo.

All watching Johnny! This happens with many skilled players, the team at times kind of sits back and watches instead of moving their feet and getting into scoring position. I noticed this on the PP a bit, instead of keeping their feet moving they stop and watch, can't do that or you make it much easier to defend against him. Get yourself into the open and he sure as hell will find you for a scoring op.

On that last goal against the Flames defenders were exhibiting some Oiler-level puck watching, and Moulson just snuck in behind them. I sure hope Hartley doesn't let that become a habit.

The other thing that frustrated me was how many times the Flames tried to make that one extra pass when they were in a pretty good area for a shot on goal.
