I cant imagine how frustrating it must be for Jones to put together some good games and get injured for the 45th time.
I like Ferland slotting in.... doubt we see him on anything but the 3rd line as he skates the rust off tonight.

Wow. How much of our cap is on IR now?
If teams get cap relief for the IR, do we run any risk of falling below the floor?

Can't happen, cap relief on IR only lets a team exceed the caphit of the player, not just take it off the books entirely. So that 4 mil is still there, we would just be able to add an extra 4 mil to the roster, if we wanted to.

Teams don't get cap relief off IR. Putting a player on IR opens up a space on the 23 man roster.
You can get "relief" by putting a player on Long Term IR (LTIR), but that doesn't drop you below the floor. The relief is only useful as it allows you to exceed the salary cap by the cap hit of the player(s) on LTIR.

Setoguchi is going to start kneecapping people soon to ensure he keeps his roster spot. I would place him under surveillance.

I feel so sorry for Jones. He seems a nice enough guy and every injury must take a big chunk out of him mentally. For him to come back time after time shows a huge amount of character. Hopefully he isn't injured for long and he can come back.

I'm guessing the got injured when he was told he was on the top line and high fived someone.
He's almost as bad as the nuck defenseman (Ohlund I think) who got injured during the team photo.

David Jones is injured, in other news water is wet, the sky is blue and Edmonton is no good.

Ironically, this is actually going to help save us from falling below the cap floor later in the season. All salary counts against your cap. But LTIR allows a team to exceed the cap if necessary. In our case, the extra salary we are paying by having all the kids from Addy up is driving our overall payroll higher and giving us space between the floor and what we are actually paying. That will be useful at the deadline if we fall out of the playoff race and trade higher priced vets for prospects or picks.
