Default Things you've learned over the years

Was posting somewhere else and thought it might be interesting to start a thread like this. I know I'd appreciate hearing tidbits from others. Generally speaking in my own life, I try to learn from others mistakes before making the same ones myself. Every mistake that you make hundreds, thousands of others have made before. So why not try and learn!

I'll go first (from my other post): The older I get the more I realize life is not black and white. There is no "right" answer, only opinions (some strong) and different things work for different people. I try to not express my own opinion too strongly (I used to, and still do sometimes), because someone somewhere has an equally logical and opposite perspective that makes just as much sense as mine.

I would add that I hope the spirit of this thread is in line with my learning.

Reading internet news comment sections is not worth your time. Your life will be better for avoiding them at all costs.

Life goes by fast. Really fast. Don't take if for granted or waste it.

Recently I learned to stop saying and thinking "I can't wait until...". When you live like that, most of your life is spent waiting.

No kidding. When I was young it was "can't wait until the weekend" to the point Monday through Friday were just obstacles. Now it's "can't wait until Summer" which is even worse lol.

I don't know, reading those validates my unscientifically held belief that I have above-average intelligence. As does everyone I know.

Worrying about meeting someone of the opposite sex is a completely fruitless endeavour. All it will do is cause stress and pain. And especially for those who are young people and should be focusing on how they will impact the world and what they want to do, not on whether or not they have a significant other. High school kids that waste their time on what can barely be referred to as relationships only hinders them IMO. I look back at the amount of time I spent pining over one person through most of my university career and find it appauling and embarrassing.

Do the things you love and enjoy, you will meet people who have the same interests and that's how you come across someone you can truly love and who truly loves you.

Once a liar, always a liar. It's just easier to assume that is correct.

Also, catching people in lies is often quite amusing.

Not being the smartest person in the room is ok. The final outcome of a project is much more important than keeping tally of who thought of what, and who's ideas were left on the cutting room floor.

Of course this only works if you surround yourself with smart talented people, idiots and stubborn nimrods can still derail and project like there's no tomorrow.
