Forward spot and sam bennett 9 game cup of coffee
Who do you think will earn a spot and do you think bennett will play 9 games which eliminates a spot to start the year?

I didn't think Bennett would get 9 games when camp started. He's looked good in two PS games so far. If he looks as good in 2-3 more PS games, I would put his chances at 50/50 for a 9 game look.

I've always understood the 'cup of coffee' term to indicate that someone got a shot and then never returned to the NHL again.

If there's only room for a couple rookies, which will most likely be the case, it's without a doubt between Granlund, Baertschi and Gaudreau. None of whom look like they'd gain anything from starting in the AHL. Bennett could use another season of maturing physically.
Personally, I think they all deserve a spot over pretty much all of our forward vets not named Sean-a-thon, Raymond, Hudler, Glencross, Stajan, Backlund... But that's just me. I understand we can't ice a team of rookies but.... we might as well.

Salary floor won't let that happen. We need some over paid under performing vets to help us get there.

I'd like to see Bennett get his 9 games. He's so eager to learn that he will soak it all up and have plenty to focus on if returned to junior. If he's good enough to stick, so be it. Gaudreau and Granlund look good enough to make the team.

Oh by the way Sam Bennett should get his nine games. He will go back to junior for sure, but would like the guy to get a taste of NHL money for those nine games.
He should be on the team right now, but it is best for him to spend time in junior. Dominate and add 15 pounds of muscle to his frame. We got a player here.
