All I dare to predict is they'll score less goals than yesterday

This could go either way. I'm obviously rooting for Argentina, since that's just a classical finals matchup, and besides "always against Robben"

But really I'm not going to be too upset if Netherlands wins. Unless it's by a PK flop obviously.

If there are fewer than 8 goals tonight, I'll be bitterly disappointed.

Hup Holland Hup!

English translation of the song:

Go Holland go
Don't let the lion stand around in his undershirt

[Lit.: "Let the lion not in his little shirt stand". Note that "hempie" is a popular diminutive for "hemd" which can be translated as "shirt". In this case it signifies the "shirt" being not formal wear. ]
Go Holland go
Don't put slippers on the beast

[Lit.: "Pull the little animal no slippers on ". Note that "beesie" is a popular diminutive for "beest" which can be translated as "animal". In this case it means the animal is beloved.]
Go Holland go
Don't let them defeat you on the field

[Lit.: "Let you on the field not beat " Note that the order of the words in this sentence is altered to better fit the melody]
Because the lion in football shoes
Dares to take the whole world on

[Lit.: "Dares the whole world on" Note that durft implies the task dared to be done is dangerous, or requires courage.]

Where do you guys recommend to watch the game downtown (for bars that have the sound/atmosphere). I've been to Jamiesons. Heard Ship is obviously good.
(ps, Dutch fan, if that matters).

I usually recommend the Pig & Duke but I reckon downtown bars and pubs would be busier during the day. I'd think the Unicorn would be a good spot, can anyone confirm?

I'm heading over to the Dutch Canadian Centre in Edmonton to watch the game today. It's practically right beside the office.

Really nervous about the game today, I don't think the back line has what it takes to advance.

What can you say, its a World Cup semi-final and we typically expect those to be tight.

I think the Dutch are a better team than Argentina and I think the Argentines have gotten this far based on luck of the draw. They havent played any really strong teams and barely got by Switzerland and Belgium. And Messi, who manages to pull rabbits out of hats when its needed the most.

If the Dutch want to win they've got to after them like they did against Spain.

I want a Netherlands-Germany final as I believe that has the most potential for a classic game. But Argentina, despite not playing that great, just has to stick around and then Messi can simply elevate and steal it for them. The Dutch need a good start and early goal I think to win this game. Letting Argentina stick around is a recipe to get Messi'd.

The Oranje will advance from a couple of set plays both the result of a Robben flop.

I think that's the right read on the match. Argentina have failed to impress (despite winning) against some pretty mediocre competition. Compare their route to the final against Brazil's, for example, and it's not even close.

I'm hoping the Dutch go through for the simple reason that they are a more dynamic and entertaining team that, if they go down a goal or two against Germany, are capable of coming back. Robben's a flopper and their backup goalie is a dooshbag, but they're still deserving of an appearance in the final based on overall team play to this point.

Van Persie will probably be out due to illness. That's not a bad thing for the Dutch considering how badly he played in the last 2 matches.

I know Unicorn is usually very good, but i wonder how busy it will be just with the stampede crowd and more difficult to get a seat.

Hard to say.

If the game is tight Van Persie can often give you that one piece of magic to win the game. (Argentina has a pretty good player capable of that as well).

Not sure you get that with Huntelaar.

If Robben dives his way to another win, I'm gonna break my TV.

As a neutral who used to really like Dutch players growing up (Bergkamp, Overmars, Davids, Seedorf), it's shocking how much I can't stand their recent batch of players.

Argentina is too dependent on Messi. You watch Fernando Gago, all he does when he receives the ball is give to Messi and then stands there. He then wait for the opponent's attack, wins the ball again later and gives it to Messi.
