Good deal. Thought he would be part of the package to obtain Spezza or Kesler. Guess not.

Yeah, seems kind of like a move before a trade.

Signed to a very affordable contract that makes him even more valuable now.

Agree, it's far more common for a signed played to stay with the team that signed him.

Eminently reasonable, I think - more than you want to pay for a third line center, but he's a very good third line center.

I wouldn't consider Berglund a third liner. David Jones is a third liner making 4 million. Another brilliant Feaster trade. At least we salvaged the deal SOB.

Am I the only one that isn't all that excited about this contract?

Berglund was always a guy seen as having big potential. He put up a couple of good seasons offensively earlier in his career.

However he is 26 years old and hasn't hit 40 points in the last three seasons. I know two seasons ago was lockout shortened but given his goals to assists ratio that season I suspect he would have dropped off the 40 point pace given a full season.

This is a guy you could now consider veteran, having played six seasons in the NHL. He's still stuck on the third line, and while St.Louis is a great team, they aren't all that strong at center so it's not like there is a lack of opportunity.

And while Berglund is getting third line minutes by the clock, he sure isn't playing a shutdown role. He's getting weaker competition and more offensive zone starts than most in St.Louis as well as 2 minutes per game on the PP.

He\s playing more of a secondary scoring role, but he isn't scoring. I feel that if he was in a Canadian city, or an American city with a more rabid fan base, a large part of the fans would be all over him.

I don't think its a solid deal for the Blues. I think its pretty meh.
