That's pretty impressive considering some of the competition that were in the AHL for goalies this season. John Gibson, Petr Mrazek, Malcolm Subban, Jake Allen. Well done Ortio!

Edit: Just realized it was the all-rookie team, so Mrazek and Allen don't apply. Impressive nonetheless.

Congrats Ortio!! That is awesome.

He will be pushing Ramo next season, looks like we might a #1a and b scenario next season? I would be ok with that until one of the two proves who should get the most starts. but I would rather seen a scenario of the #1 playing 2 or 3 games then 1 for the #2 or #1b.

It's because he's awesome. Finnish goalies are the way to go! If only we could get Kipper to be a goalie coach for us....

I feel like Ramo has already snatched the title of #1... for now. We'll see what happens in the offseason but as it stands now he's our best goalie.

Well deserved. Next year with him and Ramo should help us Finnish out every game.

Granlund would have been competitive for a spot too had he been healthy/played longer in AHL?

Based on the pace he was on prior to the Flames call-up and injury, easily.

Might have made a case for the single season franchise points record as well.

I hope this is missing green text as while he had one good game, Ortio has been the reason for most of the Heat wins, including the one where Sven had 5 points. Many others also had career nights that night/weekend. Sven wasn't that good, Rockford just self destructed and the Heat jumped all over it.

Nah, look at those 5-points, it wasn't a dangle-fest or anything. Ortio has had himself a much better season than anyone had hoped for. If he makes similar progress next year he'll be an NHL goalie.

Edit: I shoulda known that Drury would've already set it straight.

"Previous goaltenders to receive the honour include current NHLers J.S Giguere, Cam Ward, Jaroslav Halak, Jimmy Howard and Eddie Lack."

Ortio is trending towards becoming an NHL goalie!

I love Finnish goalies!

Congrats Ortio! The Flames goaltending future is looking bright... we still have Gillies coming too!

I would be happy to see a 57/25 split in games next year for Ramo/Ortio.
