Default The Aalto Puck - Trying to change the standard style of puck

Quote:
We always hear people talking about ways to improve hockey. Some would like bigger nets, others would like smaller goalie pads, etc. The list is usually typical. Very rarely does a new idea come along, until now. This company would like to change the actual hockey puck.

Either april fools came early or someone has too much money and time on their hands to attempt such a ridiculous concept. They reference the "unknown" of what angle the puck lands on your stick as a bonus....I think it would make for some brutal hockey and take away from elite players distinguishing themselves from the non elite.

So I'm guessing the shape makes it bounce and react weird?

No thanks. Credit for thinking outside the box, but no thanks.

Would be funny to see it for a period or something in an All-Star game, that's about it.

Seriously, that looks really stupid and would turn the NHL into a complete joke.

I can only hope this is a joke or someone trolling hockey fans.

I am all for progress and sometimes think that people are too resistant to change. But for this - I have to go full on old fogey - that is the dumbest idea ever, and would make hockey not hockey.

Might as well put a fox trax system in it for good measure.

Part of the design of a football is to allow for a random bounce.

The NFL is a joke.

It's funny, because JUST the other day, I was thinking to myself "I really like hockey, but I just don't feel like I'm getting my teeth knocked out often enough. Maybe there's some way I can get hit in the chiclets with the puck about 10 times more often?"

And lo and behold, here it is.

There are not enough facepalms in existence for this idea.

I'd only use that maybe in practice for puck handling or something but man that's odd

If you look at the other articles on the "Bardown" section, it is obvious that it is meant to be parody. Not sure why it is there because it isn't satire like The Onion but I guess it could be somehow seen as funny.
