Calgary Puck for Kids Memorial Fund

Calgary Puck is an online discussion forum primarily focused on the Calgary Flames. Members of the group number in the thousands, literally from around the world. Whether we are located in Australia, The Czech Republic, Finland, or closer to home in Alberta and Calgary, we have developed a bond and a strong sense of community. Our favourite team is no different, as they support many causes throughout the Calgary area. The team recognizes they hold an important place within the community. By extension the players and coaches on the team, past and present, hold a similar place. Some may be here for a short stay while others are here for years but we consider all of them a part of this great community forever.

Recently we were saddened to hear about the loss of Emerson Stajan. We mourn the lose of anyone within the community, however it's doubly so for those who leave us so early. Through this sad event we have learned of far too many within our Calgary Puck community who have also had similar experiences. The wounds we learn are deep, and the healing process long.

While we cannot erase the void left by the loss of Emerson and the other sons and daughters, we feel compelled to help our community in any way we can. As a result, we are setting up this memorial fund to help those we can by supporting the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. We hope those who are hurting will take solace in knowing, whether the funds are used to help save one child or bring some happiness to many who need it, some good will come from these tragedies and know your community surrounds and supports you.

When I was setting this up the extremely helpful lady from the hospital foundation told me they have had a couple of challenges with their online donation provider which are being worked on. At the moment they need to manually tie donations with the right Memorial fund (hence the ask for the fundraising name on the donation form). My guess is the updates will happen every couple of days.

Honest question; What are these funds used for? Is this to help families with the costs associated with the loss of an infant or does it go to a general pool for ACH?

Donations are starting to show up on the site.

I believe there is some information on the foundation site where the funds go. As I recall from the donation form you could direct your funds to research, equipment, or where needed most.
