I have an older Telus Siemens SE567 adsl router. Using Telus' online web form, it was pretty easy to set up a wireless network that uses the older WEP security. I've been running this for a couple years without a hitch.
I just purchased an Apple Time Capsule and hooked one of its ethernet ports to one of the ethernet ports of the router. There are no connections on any WLAN port. Apple Time Capsule went through it's automated process and set up a new wireless network.
I'm now connected to the new Time Capsule wireless network but how the heck am I connected to the internet? Although the original Telus wireless network is still available, I'm not connected to it and there are no WLAN connections. In fact, the WLAN light on the router is not active. I also swear that the connection is much faster than the Telus wireless connection but I have no proof.
I have a feeling that if I disable the original Telus wireless connection, Time Capsule will lose it's ability to connect to the internet as well. Am I off base here? I have a newer MBP that can only connect wireless.
I've spend a lot of time reading trying to educate myself but am still confused.
Any clarification is appreciated.
