Default Jimmy Kimmel being sued for skit

More China trouble for Jimmy Kimmel as complaint filed in court

http://www.freep.com/article/2014021...yssey=obinsite

Quote:
An Edison, N.J., man is taking ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and the network’s parent company, Disney, to court over a skit in which a 6-year-old boy suggested killing everyone in China as a solution to the U.S. debt problem.

As a result of the segment, Cao says he “suffers substantial and enduring emotional distress including, but not limited to, nervousness, anxiety and loss of sense of self-worth.” He is suing for unspecified damages.
Anyone see the skit? I'm wondering if the skit was pre-recorded and if they ever thought it would land them in this much trouble. Also crazy to me that buddy sues him because his feelings are hurt over what a 6 yr old thought.

(just watched it......still seems stupid)

Unbelievable, if this gets in front of the courts there's something very wrong.

I'm not a Kimmel fan, but it's comedy ffs. There can't be any boundaries or apologies

Jokes are jokes, and if all of a sudden someone decides to take it serious, it's still just a joke.

What a grim and morbid thing for a 6 year old to suggest.

Here's the video:

I wish someone would sue or jail people who waste time and money with ridiculous lawsuits like this

Ridiculous lawsuit, but using children for cheap laughs is tasteless and lazy.

How many lawyers did the guy have to visit before one was willing to work with him? While some may find it tasteless, there is no reason at all that should have turned into a lawsuit.

Robocop was showing on TV last night, and this reminded me a lot of those fake TV shows that were always on. I could imagine this as some kind of dystopian version of "Kids Say the Darndest Things".

And with that, Jimmy Kimmel leads us into our dark, dark future.

Lot of young republicans at that table. Invade! Build a wall! lol

Lord of the Flies edition indeed, haha.

Often those are funny, but that one was a little weak. Not saying I was insulted for any reason, like the responses or the use of kids in comedy. I don't mind. Just the kids seemed a little too amped up for real good/funny answers. I know shows like this give them lots of snacks and sugary juices and stuff to get them going, but I think they overshot their target on this one. Kids went from being cute and funny, to hard to understand and a little annoying.

As for a lawsuit. Just stupid, as people have already mentioned.
