Was Baranka added because he's married to the coach's daughter?

They're going to have to print full names for Marian Hossa and Marcel Hossa on their jerseys.

No old man Satan? Pretty sure he's still playing, and always performs well when playing for his country.

Think this will be a tough tournament for the Slovaks.
Their golden generation is starting to age and the youth they have produced has not taken that next step to establish themselves yet.

No, Tailgator; certain European hockey players are cloned to add talent to otherwise thin leagues. This is how we got the Sedins.
Anyway, is it just me or is Slovakia better than the Czechs on paper for once?

They have been for the past few years IMO. Main reason:
Chara.

If they get some solid goaltending, I could see them pulling an upset over the Americans in the round robin.
That's a really solid top 6 with the second best defenceman in the world....who knows.

I'm glad they're taking Martin Marincin though. That guy is a +2 on the Oilers which is borderline miraculous.
Oh. Crap. I just checked. He actually leads the Oilers in +/-. With +2. That explains so much.

How many games has he played though? Because it's a cumulative stat, you have to be there a while to get into Yakupov territory.

Good point. Hes only played 7 games. Which begs the question:
Why is Slovakia taking an Edmonton Oilers AHL player? If he cant make the roster of the worst team in the league how does he make the National team? Surely Slovakia cant be that thin on the back-end.
