The Leafs had a pretty good week, going 2-1-1 over 4 games. I'll nominate:
Player: Michael Grabner (70 ov) - 4 GP, 5 G + 1 A = 6 P, +2, 9 PIM, 16 shots, 1x 1st star, 1x 2nd star, 1x 3rd star
The winger had 4 goals in his first 12 games this season ... this week, he scored goals in every game and finished with 5 tallies in 4 outings. In the first game of the week, Grabner scored a goal in the third period to cut the deficit to one, but the Leafs couldn't get another goal and lost 4-3 vs Buffalo. Grabner was the 2nd star of the game. Against Detroit, Grabner got a couple of powerplay points late in the 2nd period: he assisted on the 2nd Leafs goal of the night and later scored to make it 3-1. The Leafs held on for a 4-3 win and Grabner was named the game's 3rd star. He also scored on the powerplay vs Ottawa, sealing the 3-1 win in the 3rd period. In the last game of the week, Grabner scored both goals in 3-2 SO loss to Boston. He first scored on the PP in the 1st period and later tied the game in the 3rd period. He was 1st star of the game. Overall, Grabner was vital for the Leafs in all situations ... for example, he played 4:55 on the PP and 6:43 on the PK against Buffalo.
Defenseman: Clayton Stoner (70 ov) - 4 GP, 0 G + 1 A = 1 P, +2, 20 PIM, 11 shots
There's nothing "Karlsson-like" about Stoner when you look at scoring, but he sort of does it all for Toronto. He had 7 hits and 10 blocked shots last week, he had two fights (vs Matt Carkner and Wojtek Wolski) and was on the ice in all situations. He averaged 24:09 minutes per game, including an average of 2:36 minutes on the PP and 3:59 minutes on the PK. In addition, he had an assist on the game-winner vs Ottawa.
Rookie: Cory Conacher (68 ov) - 4 GP, 1 G + 4 A = 5 P, +1, 0 PIM, 9 shots, 1x 1st star, 1x 3rd star
Conacher has provided nice secondary offense for the Leafs, for example outplaying higher rated Lee Stempniak. Conacher was scoreless vs Buffalo, but was excellent against Detroit: he scored the opening goal in the 1st period and added two primary assists on the PP later. He was awarded 1st star honours. He then had another assist in on the PP vs Ottawa and he was named the game's 3rd star. He also assisted on the PP early in the game vs Boston.
Goalie: Scott Clemmensen (71 ov) - 4 GP, 2-1-1, 2.20 GAA, .935% svs, 1x 1st star, 1x 2nd star
Originally pencilled in to be the backup, Clemmensen has been surprisingly fantastic for the Leafs so far, and so he deservedly started in all four games last week. Clemmensen started the week with 33 saves against Buffalo, but it wasn't enough to prevent the 3-2 loss. Against Detroit, he turned away 29 shots in a 4-3 win. His best game of the week came in a 3-1 win over Ottawa, as his 29 saves earned him 1st star honours in that game. He finished the week with 39 saves in 3-2 SO loss vs Boston, good enough for 2nd star of the game. In addition, Clemmensen stopped two penalty shots this week: he denied both Anton Babchuk and Jason Garrison in the games vs Ottawa and Boston, respectively.
Unsung: Scott Clemmensen (71 ov) - 4 GP, 2-1-1, 2.20 GAA, .935% svs, 1x 1st star, 1x 2nd star

Three game week for the Blackhawks going 3-0-0. The hawks beat Colorado in a shoot out (4-3), Eastern Conference leader New Jersey (7-0) and Western conference leader Phoenix (3-1).
Player: Claude Giroux - 3GP, 3G+2A=5PTS, +3, 10 shots, 4 hits, 22:00 minutes per game, 1X 3rd star. Giroux always gets the tough minute against the other teams' number 1 lines. If he ends the night with a positive +/-, it is almost always a positive outcome for the Blackhawks.
Defenseman: Dan Boyle - 2GP, 2G+3A=5PTS, +5, 12 shots, 3 blocked shots, 3 take aways, 27.37 minutes per game, 1st first star. Over 2 points per game, having to take a game off due to fatigue. Leader from the backline.
Goalie: Roberto Luongo - 3GP, 3 wins, 0.957 save %, 1.33 Goals Against Average, 1st StarX1, 2nd StarX1. The workhorse puts the team on his back against the top teams in the CPHL. A shut-out and 1 goal allowed vs the two best teams in the league.
Rookie: Quinton Howden (60 OV) - 3GP, 2G+0A=2PTS, +3, 6 shots, GWG, 7.24 minutes per game. The rookie steps up and scores his first two goals of the season in limited time on the ice.
Unsung (67OV or lower - 75OV for goalies): Quinton Howden (60 OV) - 3GP, 2G+0A=2PTS, +3, 6 shots, GWG. The rookie gets a couple key goals to kick start the team vs the Devils. The third line hasn't produced a lot, but Howden has been solid in limited time.

The devils went 3-1 this week.
Player- Mike Ribeiro had a great week with 4 goals, was +1, a fight, 18 shots,9 hits, 2 takeaways and was a beast in the faceoff dot going 55/88 for 62.5 % and was a 1st star and 2nd star.
Goalie-Corey Crawford went 3-0 stopping 93/99 shots for a .939 save % and just under 2.00 GAA as he won 2 games in the shootout stopping all 4 shootout attempts he faced. He had a 1st star performance and 3rd star game as well.

combination of a sick child at home and a lacklustre 1-2-1 record leaves no nominees for the Sabres this week
