I Like Manny Malhotra
This is the feel-good story of the day:
http://gocheckers.com/articles/344-m...ods-again.html
Quote:
At the Checkers’ team-building paintball event two weeks ago, Woods lost an important personal item. It was a medal he wore, given to him by his late grandfather, which had been blessed by the Pope. Given Woods’ attachment to the item, it was a situation teammates had heard about and understood.
Enter Malhotra, the longtime NHL veteran who’s playing with the Checkers on a pro tryout contract as he attempts to prove that he can still play at the highest level. Without telling Woods, Malhotra, who had known the rookie forward for a little over two weeks, bought a metal detector, drove to the paintball field and searched.
When unable to find the medal, Malhotra told Woods about it, and the two returned to the field to look again on Wednesday. Together, they found it.

I've always liked Malhotra. I think he's a class act (despite being a one time Canuck) and I wish him all the best in his efforts to resurrect his career after that horrible eye injury. Hopefully his eye has healed to the point that it is safe for him to resume his career.

I knew there was a reason this guy never quite seemed to fit in as a Canuck.

Talk about team-building.
I don't think Manny will ever fully recover from his injury. But I won't tell him that.

I've always like and wanted the Faceoff Wizard on our team when we were stuck as a 9th place team

As a Canuck fan, I saw that he was never the same after the injury. I still hold out that he finds a way to adapt and get back to where he was.

I met malholtra at a golf tournament in Smithers last year. Really nice guy, even though I told him I hate the Canucks.

Am I the only one that is surprised that the guy that suffered the serious eye injury couldn't find the medal on his own?
