Default Arizona Wildfire: 19 Firefighters Die

Terrible news.

An out-of-control blaze overtook an elite group of firefighters trained to battle the nation's fiercest wildfires, killing 19 members as they tried to protect themselves from the flames under fire-resistant shields.

I saw this last night and couldn't really make sense of it. I know nothing about fire fighting and obviously these guys were an elite crew, but what happened here? How much are these guys putting themselves in harm's way to save houses?

Terrible tragedy.

We luncheoned in Prescott and drove around the area last November. Very nice place.

Been through Yarnell many times, and Prescott. Small town, and close knit. A huge loss for the community.
