Not the only industry that the government here has taken that sort of stance with either. Although I swear, it's very, very difficult to find any forest products down here that aren't Canadian.

I wonder how much the American case played into the decision?

Finally, this has crippled the beef industry long enough.
Good to hear....

Sutters two. stupid decisions nothing. In two days.
It's a Bush conspiracy to get the economy rolling or,
we are ramping up a beef processing industry or,
consumers are complaining about the beef or
Americans are demanding obstruction is called and the red line
eliminated.

Wasn't the ban fostering a growth in Alberta processing capacity? I thought that was going to be the 'unseen' benefit of this crisis, less dependency on downstream American manufacturing and more packing here, for various destinations & new markets.
I'm sure that doesn't make up for the substantial hit the industry has taken, but, it will have 'trimmed the fat' from our cattle-producers, so we should come out mean and lean and ready to make decent profits.
