What explanation fits best for the Daniel Sedin penalty in overtime last night?

It was the right call

It was an honest mistake

Referee Kelly Sutherland settled a score

Please vote for "it was the right call" on the right hand of the screen.

What "score" was he settling? I've heard a reference to this and some Calgary game. I'm not aware of what they're talking about.

March 3rd. AV was called for a bench minor for yelling at Kelly Sutherland. It stemmed from a hit that Stajan threw on Tanev. AV claims all he did was yell "That's an elbow" and Kelly gave him a penalty. AV goes on post game rant.

Fast forward next day AV says, "I have to believe Kelly overreacted."

Kelly Sutherland was also the ref that stood by and watched Marchand speed bag punch Sedin in the 2011 finals.

I went honest mistake as I do not agree that the player was in a defenseless position and the same hit happened in both Chicago/Minnie and Pittsbugh/New York with no calls. League needs to work on consistancy.

It was an honest mistake. It should not have been a penalty as it was shoulder to shoulder. Most importantly though...................SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

He sounds like a fantastic ref!

In reality though, he was probably giving Sedin a chance to retaliate and defend himself and then as the beating went on and on, it got embarrassing.

Just because it was shoulder to shoulder doesnt mean its not boarding. Looked like a textbook boarding penalty to me. At first I didn't think they were calling it because the closer ref didn't put his hand up. The player hadn't even touched the puck. It was pretty obvious to me that Sedin was just being a wanker from having his pocket picked by said player a few seconds later. Too bad the only thing close to "compete" that the Nucks show comes out as whining.

Auger, Sutherland... do Canuck fans stop and think for a minute, and start to believe that, maybe, the team is the problem?

I have the feeling that VanFlamesFan has alerted the Canucks poll police as the poll now says, "We have detected suspicious activity on this poll. Please try again later"

Hahaha, that's almost as good as the Canucks being swept.

I doubt it. More likely their seeing a high proportion of IP addresses from Alberta trying to vote.

I was able to vote just now with no problem.
