So dominant for a short period of time. Without injuries could have been on of the all time greats.

"I just didn't sense any of that burning desire to win in the Nordiques organization," Lindros says."

"And when Lindros and his parents dared to question the Flyers medical staff after the team first sent Eric to a migraine specialist in March 2000 instead of a neurologist who focused on concussions, the old-school Clarke flipped. He isolated Lindros from the team, at one point going weeks without speaking to his injured star. "

Maybe the burning desire to win at all cost (disregarding their health issues) of his old school hero helped to destroy his career? I think hipsters call this ironic karma?

I would have liked to have seen what Lindros would have contributed to the game. Too bad, we all lose.

In his prime, he was the best power forward in NHL history

In his prime, he would have been the best power forward in NHL history. We didn't get to see him in his prime.

He was considered "the next great one" when he was playing for Oshawa. I remeber all the hype that surrounded Lindros and how he was going to dominate the NHL. A pure power forward that would dominate the league for years to come. sadly all those concussions cut short his acreer and we never got a chance to see how great he could have been.

He did some dastardly things in junior and in the NHL (sault st. Marie, and Quebec City), and he was no saint, but remember how close he was to being a flame before the draft?

I also remember his rookie salary of 3m being the highest in the NHL, until McNall renegotiated Gretzky up to 3.5m.

Man was he some kind of entitled kid!

I'm not sure how close we were, but we offered:
  • Mike Vernon,
  • Al MacInnis,
  • Joe Nieuwendyk
  • draft picks

How cool is that, to see what was offered to acquire a player. IMO there should be a 5/10 year declassified lift on official trade offers, because this information is so cool!

Lindros was certainly a physical beast in his day, but I'm not so sure he would have been a star in the new NHL with his skating. I think that even if Stevens didn't hit him, his career would have been ended by someone else.

i used to think this as well - but when you see the established players that were offered for him, that sets his market value.......you can't make an offer of 4 establsihed players for him and then pay him $350,000 a year.....

I never knew the Flames were in the mix for him
