It was a two home fire on Roxboro Avenue.

Quote:
A little after midnight this evening Calgary fire crews responded to reports of a building fire in the 400 block of Roxboro Rd., SW. On arrival fire crews encountered two, two-story single-family homes fully involved in flames. A man, in his 80s, was the lone occupant of the home where the fire originated. He reported to crews that there was no one left in the building. Firefighters immediately turned their attention to the adjacent building and determined that the structure was unoccupied. A second alarm was called for manpower and adjacent homes were protected from smoke and flame through the use of mechanical fans and covering streams of water. As a result of the heat a natural gas line ruptured and had to be shut down by Atco personnel called to the scene. The resulting gas flow was prevented from igniting by hose lines until it could be shut down. A live electric line fell to the rear of the building and emergency crews had to stay clear until Enmax could disconnect the power feed. In order to disconnect the power from the fire building the entire block had to have its electricity shutdown for approximately 2 hours. Additional resources were called to aid in warning residents of the impending electrical shutdown. The lone building occupant was treated for smoke inhalation and transported by EMS. There were no other injuries at this incident and cause of the fire is under investigation.
