Default Steve Begin is Calgary's Nominee for the Masterson Trophy

That was my guess:

Calgary Flames@NHLFlames2m
Steve Bégin (@begs22) has been nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy ~ http://cflam.es/13YcwVc #warrior

Quote:
“Bégin shows his dedication to hockey every time he hits the ice. A skater whose calling card is succeeding through determination, Bégin overcame his biggest test by returning to the NHL this season at 34 years of age despite missing all of the 2011-12 season due to hip surgery. He attended the Flames training camp without a contract, but earned a spot on the team with his usual brand of exuberance. Bégin is tenacious and never afraid to mix it up, but respectful of his opponents when the whistle has blown. He's also taken on the role of a leader for a rebuilding Flames team, helping out the young players in any way possible.” - Calgary Chapter of the PHWA

I guess it's going to be expensive to re-sign him now!

This feels like Sidney Crosby's award to lose.

Still can't believe Langkow didn't win it after coming back from a broken neck. Especially to lose it to a guy that didn't actually play a single game that season.

When he was with the Isles (I think) he was visiting his billet family in Lethbridge and was diagnosed with spinal meningitis. He managed to fight it and not only live but return to hockey.
