Default March 9 - 9 Other Games

Lots of NHL action today, with a couple games in the books already.

Boston knocks off Philly 3-0

The Islanders dump Washington 5-2

Columbus keeps rolling, blanking Detroit 3-0

St. Louis comes back from 3-1 to tie it and win it in OT on goal from Berglund. Berglund and Perron dominated Boyle and the Sharks down low and scored off the cycle. Oh to have big, physical forwards ...

Later games:

Pittsburgh @ Toronto
New Jersey @ Carolina
Montreal @ Tampa Bay
Minnesota @ Nashville
Dallas @ Phoenix

American viewers are lucky as they have had a tripleheader on NHL Network USA, starting with the Flyers-Bruins followed by the Blues-Sharks and ending with the Penguins-Leafs. The Flyers-Bruins game was also on NHL Network Canada and was a good one to watch in the first period. That is when the Bruins scored all three of their goals.

The three games at 1700h, the Penguins-Leafs game is the best and the good news is the Penguins scored just 36 seconds into the game and lead 1-0. This game is the national HNIC game except in Quebec where the Habs-Lightning is being shown and it is scoreless midway through the first period. The Devils-Hurricanes is also scoreless.

The two games at 1800h, take the Predators and Stars to win their respective games.

I know I've said it a few times know but with Lidstrom retired I really think Letang is the best defenceman in hockey. Credit Crosby all you want, but Letang is responsible for a great deal of their production.

People may not like Hughson, but he is a really really good play-by-play man. As long as he isn't calling Vancouver games he is top 3 in the business.

Getzlaf is a more valuable player than Perry.

Effing shoot-outs are the stupidest way to end a game.
