Default Phoenix All Out of Semin

Phoenix has been shooting blanks in the Win column, so needed a shakeup.
Phoenix hooked up with Winnipeg for its 2nd trade in as many days (earlier acquiring Quincey and Sbisa for Demers and Gunnarson).

This deal however is expected to have a bigger impact.

Young 24 y/o Brad Marchand and Derik Brassard find their way over to the desert. Phoenix GM REALLY likes Marchand and has been after him for a long time. We love the all around game he has and expect him to be a great addition to our roster that already has strong scorers, and has been giving up goals left right and center. His two-way game will be a great asset. Phoenix found themselves to be facing a cap crunch next season and saving $ on this deal will greatly help that cause. (March is locked up on a cheap deal for 1 more year after this)

Heading over to Winnipeg is Alexander Semin and Artem Anisimov. Pho is sad to see Anisimov go as he chased him for a long time, but we also really like Derik Brassard. They will fight for ice time against each other as both are on CBJ in the NHL. The 2013 3rd WIN owes PHO is wiped and the 2nd is postponed till 2014

First off gross....

The Jets were still looking to up the offense in the top 6 and then solidfy the forward defense in the bottom 6.

The Jet's really like Marchand, not as much as Pat likes Spezza (bc then I would love Marchand), but really like. Mainly bc of what he did to Sedin in the playoffs. The fact is is that he is not a offensive dynamo like Semin. Marchand is a good 2 way player . He can score a little and fight a little but we need more scoring. Brassard played on our 3rd line and his defensive play was not cutting it. Our 3rd and 4th lines are taking a beating this season . They are giving up a lot of goals. Anyway I think the deal is pretty fair for both sides again.

Thanks Sim.

I like Semin risk/reward more if hockey ever starts again. I can see the need for a shake up though.

good deal!

Props to sim for POTW thus far! As for the trade, short term to the Jets. I really like Marchand as a player though. Good job guys.
