Default Global bacon shortage in the coming year

According to sources in the UK, we are due for a global bacon shortage in the coming year because of this years world wide grain crop failures and drought.
Better stock up those freezers while you can with all the ham and greasy bacon you can pack in

"Global bacon shortage precipitates mass riots, societal upheaval, and downfall of society by end of 2012".

The Mayans saw it coming. Plus I'm pretty sure it's in the Bible. And the Qu'ran.

The brain is hardwired to crave bacon is most people. It'll even turn vegetarians to meat eaters once in awhile.

Quote:
Because bacon is one- to two-thirds fat and also has lots of protein, it speaks to our evolutionary quest for calories, Lundstrom says. And since 90 percent of what we taste is really odor, bacon's aggressive smell delivers a powerful hit to our sense of how good it will taste.

"There's an intimate connection between odor and emotion, and odor and memory," Lundstrom says. "When you pair that with the social atmosphere of weekend breakfast and hunger, bacon is in the perfect position to take advantage of how the brain is wired."

"And yay there was no bacon, and the Lord saideth unto his followers, 'Storm the castles, for they have bacon. Convert the non-believers, as they are without bacon. Be joyous and consume the Body of Christ, or bacon'"

I always thought bacon was made from pig, not from grain. You learn something new every day.

There's a bacon shortage because we're putting the stuff in everything from beer to mayonaisse to personal lubricant!

Goes back much further than that... Norse gods owned a pig of infinite bacon called Sćhrímnir

Couldn't quite make the leap that those products are used as feed for pigs which produce bacon, eh?
