Default Blues Bolster Their Lineup

Well it happened. Adam Larsson has been dealt. I actually was starting to reconsider putting him on the block because the more I read about him, the more I think he's the real deal and may turn out to be the best Defenseman in the NHL someday. Enter NJ.

I just had to do it.

To St.L:
Brent Seabrook D, 27y 75ov, $8.50/1y
S. Kostitsyn RW/LW, 25y 64ov, $2.00/1y
Cash

To NJ:
Adam Larsson D, 19y Super Prospect
Dan Boyle D, 35y 73ov, $9.99/3y
2nd Round Pick

The Blues are pumped to add a young Defenseman of Seabrook's calibre, and also believe Kostitsyn can become a 60 Pt player soon. Ridding ourselves of the declining Boyle's contract was also a major bonus. This trade also adds an extra top 9 forward to the mix while only adding 1/2 a Mil in cap.

It was a deal that worked on too many levels to pass up and I think NJ feels the same. Still tough to see Larsson go though.

Thanks to Chris for the talks, there actually wasn't a lot of replies needed considering the names moving.

Huge win for the Devils! Good job Chris. Your team is going to be scary in 3 to 4 years!

Love this trade for the Blues.

Getting a younger controllable elite D-man and a young top 6 forward is definitely better than a 35 year old and a D prospect who might not pan out to be a top calibre D-man.

Larsson is going to be a great Dman for years in my opinion. Seabrook is already on the decline at 27. Sorry I'm not a Seabrook fan. I'd rather have Boyle at 35. Chris send me a PM, let's talk.

I'm also not a huge fan of Seabrook, I think while he is still a good d-man he is a tad overrated playing with Keith.

Boyle has shown consistency over the years and is a solid replacement, and I needed an offensive D-man for the PP and just in general. He is overpaid, and older, but I will have no shortage of cap in the coming years and would overpay for someone like him next year in UFA to fill my roster.

I think within 3 years Larsson will be better than Seabrook is now, and will possibly be on the Devils roster as soon as next year depending.

Getting a second in next years draft will help bolster the prospect pool, or give me a nice trade chip as well.

As Ryan said I think we are both happy with the outcome!

I think it is fair. As long as Seabrook plays with Kieth he will be rated well.

I like the deal for NJ but overall I think the deal is pretty fair.

I think this is a good move for both teams. STL gets better now and players that should hold there value well. NJD takes a very small drop in ratings and gets the top-tier prospect. Clearly NJD is assuming pretty much all of the risk here but I think Larsson could be an average #1 or very good #2 Dman in the next 2 years.

Good deal for the Blues...having to wait 3 years in this league for "possible" rate hikes and "possible player improvement" is silly.
St Loo has it right...play for this year now and worry about next year....next year.

Larsson could get a playable rating this year after his first full year, and by next year could be a 63/64 (assuming there is an NHL season).

Good deal for NJ. Boyle is a good player who still has some miles ahead of him - and Larsson is a tremendous young dman.

I like the deal for Jersey, but I'm not high on Seabrook and think Larsson will be better then him. I think Boyle still has some time left in the tank too.
