Default So I think I inherited a Rolex

My step fathers dad passed away and left me something's in a box with my name on it. In this box is what looks like a late 70's or early 80's Rolex Oyster Perpetual. I've looked at all the tell tail ways to see if it's fake online myself and it passes everything with flying colors to my rookie eye.

The fact it's 25-35yrs old makes me think if it was a fake you should be able to tell easlily by now, but you can't.

Does anyone know where I could go to get it authenticated? I have called Brinkhaus and they told me to come down and said I could send it away for 6-8 weeks to get serviced and I would know when it got back if it was legit and be stuck with a $300-$750 bill depending on what needed to be done. Any other alternatives?

http://www.rolex.com/en#/store-locat...dealers.com/en

I believe they might be the only authorized dealer in Calgary.

I am sure they could tell you.

I have a 60 year old Rolex being serviced by the owner of http://www.swisswatchclinic.ca/
Andre has serviced a couple of my Omega wrist watches in the past. He will give you an opinion right away. I do not think Brinkhaus has the tools to open your watch. Brinkhaus will outsource the work and does fine work too.

J. Vair Anderson Jewellers in downtown has an onsite rolex trained horologist. Or they did when I bought my watch there 5 years ago. He should be able to tell. I believe you are supposed to have a rolex serviced every 7 years.

FYI, the correct Canadian spelling is jewellers. See here.

J. Vair Anderson spells it the proper Canadian way.

I've been thinking of getting into this field, there's a gap in the workforce.
