I'm not a racing fan, but found this interesting - not often that you would see something like this:

http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=128362

The United States Grand Prix went ahead with just six cars Sunday after tiremaker Michelin advised the seven Formula One teams it supplies not to compete because of safety concerns.

....

''Michelin told us there is a serious danger with the tire and we don't want any problem with the drivers and not put anybody at risk in this business,'' he said.

The bewildered crowd at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was left pointing and gawking as they tried to figure out why the majority of the field was climbing out of their cars. Fans then began showing their displeasure, first by booing before some took to throwing debris on to the track.

Just another example of why F1 is by far the worst of the major racing circuits.

I still think it is better than the joke that is open wheel racing in NA. Until those dopes can get their act together and merge so that the best drivers are all compeating against each other and change their stupid sponsorship methods I think it will always be the worst of all racing circuits.

Well CART/IRL are buisness related problems.

With F1, the racing itself is always the joke.

I used to enjoy F-1 and remember waking up early to watch races or staying up late whatever was required. I agree the racing lately is not nearly as fun to watch as it seems you know which driver or team will win before the race even begins.

I actually have begun to enjoy NASCAR something I never thought I would because of the fact it seems anyone can win at any time. Guys can come back from way back while half way through the race and win.

If you know who is going to win beforehand then you better start betting on the races. You'll be rich in no time.

Well back a year or two ago how many times did Shumaker or Barrichello win??

I am sure many people did bet on those two that year and could have made some money.

Well you can't bet on past events. Last year Schumacher did win a lot but he only paid around 1:1 which is pretty bad in an event with about 20 competitors. If you know who is going to win you should bet now, because you can make quite a bit of money. The odds are a lot better this year.

So far, this season has been pretty interesting to watch compared to the last few. Last week's Montreal GP was pretty exciting! The Indy GP was a slap in the face to the fans though -- you'd think Michelin could build a tire that can run at that track by now...

I think F1's most exciting days were during the 70's & 80's. I still get shivers up my spine watching those big rear tired cars slide through the turns, back when driver's skill was the only thing keeping them on the track!

I used to watch NASCAR in the early 90's, and grew tired of it after a while. There are days that it all seems like a giant WWE production, especially after Earnhardt Sr. died and they started playing up Jr. With NASCAR, it's entertainment first, and whoever wins is secondary to them.

WEll I don't watch anymore as I lost onterest from previous years so I have no idea who would win or not win this season. If they have it now that there is much more parity and many teams have a shot at winning then good on them.

Heh, I read another headline that Portugal found the podium in this weekends race. The very next sentance is that it was in a 6 car field. Sheesh!
