Flight - YYC- YVR - Beijing
I have a flight from YYC to YVR at 10am followed by a 4 hr layover in YVR.
Does anyone know if the flight from YYC to YVR is considered domestic or international? I don't want to be at the airport 2-3 hrs early if I don't have to be, nor do I want to be late.
TIA

So that looks like I should only need to be there around 1 hr ahead?

I believe for international flights, you are required to be there at least 90 minutes prior to departure

You're only flying to Vancouver which arguably is still part of Canada - domestic - in Vancouver you will need to be there earlier as it is a international flight

If your ticket was purchased as 1 ticket, meaning you bought the whole trip yyc-yvr-pek as 1 ticket your fine to show up 1 1/2 hrs before flight in Calgary (yes its considered domestic,) your bags will be checked all the way through as well.
If you bought a seperate ticket from yyc-yvr and yvr-pek then you have to pick up your bags in yvr and check them through to pek.

There is basically no passport control when you leave Canada. It is done when you check in for your flight. You can treat them both as Domestic, however you want to be sure that your visa is in order, to avoid delays when checking in.
You will check in for the YVR flight the same as domestic, your bags will be checked through to PEK.
You will then walk half a mile once you land in YVR to go from Domestic departure area into the international departure area. Between these two you will be required to show your boarding pass (which you should be provided in YYC assuming you are using the same carrier or alliance).
On this topic how long ago did you book your tickets? PEK to YYC is outrageously expensive this month, almost double the usual.

Security in the International departures terminal in Vancouver is considerably more slow then the domestic security lines. Like mentioned before you are required by the airline to check into the flight 90 mins before departure.
The train from YVR - City Center is 25 minutes each way, so put that into consideration if leaving the airport. Wont leave you much time to do anything... But still enough time to go grab a Japadogg!

The airlines can still combine tickets even if you bought them separately, you just have to ask/ show them both tickets.
