Default Very Exciting News for Kansas and BigBrodieFan

Hi Everyone,

I thought this news warrants it's own thread. I wanted to share that my son Carter and his football team, the Shawnee Mission West Vikings, just won the 6A Kansas State Football Championship yesterday with a score of 19-14. The last time anyone from the Shawnee Mission School District (about a half of a million population) has won the State Championship was in 1985, and it was the Vikings who won- so essentially they won their first State Championship in 27 years! 6A is the biggest and best class. We are very excited for Carter, who is a sophomore (10th grade) and 15 years old. I included some pictures. Thanks for checking them out!

Carter is #75, the kid jumping up really high on the pile.

Star Spangled Banner, my kid is #75, he is 6'4 and 220, the kid behind him is Austin Chambers, he's 6'6 and 300 lbs. Austin is only in 11th grade.

Rushing the Field. We had over 10,000 fans travel to Topeka to see the game. The other team had about 7,000.

Shot of Carter #75 in the Kansas City Star, he's a defensive end.

Anyway, thanks for checking it out and thanks to TJ Brodie for taking Carter to work out in Chatham in the summer. Very happy and excited, and proud!

The team they beat, Hutchinson, had won state championships 7 of the last 8 seasons bouncing between 6A and 5A.

Congrats BBF!

Cool fphotos and congrats.

Is level 6A high, low or what.

I could not imagine being in highschool and being 6'6' and 300 lbs - kids parents must be sending him to the feetlot to graze

6A is the largest enrollment classification in the state. For this years group, the enrollment range is 1016-1801...this is for grade 9-11, they don't count grade 12.

There are 32 6A schools in the state.

The largest is Wichita East (1801 students)

Shawnee Mission West is right in the middle (1438 students).
