Default Annoyingly Simple Cell Phone Question?

My parents got an iPhone while they were out west last week, they are driving back out east and will get back home in a week or so, I don't need to share the backround story, but I am, like a moron.

Anywho, when they started a new contract with Bell, a current promotion was free long distance. They travel outside of Newfoundland quite a bit, and come back to Alberta regularly to visit etc. I am wondering if there is any point in changing numbers to a 709 area code when they return, or if they should just keep the Alberta number?

If I understand it right there won't be any additional charges either way now, since there won't be additional charges on top of her regular minutes.

Ah, four hours of sleep, brain not working. I think I should know this.

While they may have long distance free for OUTGOING calls that they make, I can't imagine all their friends/businesses out east have the same, so having a local area code to their residence could be important for people trying to call them.

Thanks! (out of thanks)

Yeah, I was just wondering if there would be any additional charges for them. They still have my Dads cell and their home phone for friends and family out there.

Just to add to Jaydorn's point- does Bell operate in Nfld? I am just thinking that if they have a contract with Bell, they may not be able to get a local number if Bell doesn't offer service there.

The other consideration is when their "evening and weekend hours" are. If their contract is in Alberta and they have free evening calling starting at 6:00; that would be 9:30 there. I know I run into this when using my cell in Manitoba; that my free evenings start an hour later.

Bell runs as Bell Aliant out there, so if they do, that won't be a problem.
