I just heard this and figured people should know:

The source of the problem is a malfunctioning geostationary communications satellites launched by Telesat Canada called Anik F2.

So basically, all HD and NHLCI are gone from Shaw Direct because Telesat's satellite turned around to face away from the earth.
Speculation is that it's related to the solar storm last night.
